Dale Muir started his railroad career with Sperry Rail Service, working there for one and a half years. He then moved on to the Chicago & North Western Railroad engineering department. He spent 9 years with the C&NW testing rail and track geometry and finally as Manager of Testing. Dale took a buyout along with hundred of other managers as the C&NW was positioning itself to be bought by the Union Pacific Railroad.
After doing some ultrasonic testing consulting work, Dale went back to school and earned a Masters degree in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University. He worked for a couple of small companies, then retired after 17 years with IBM.
Dale lives in Geneva, Illinois with his wife and cat.
